Stop 3: Bay Area

Stop 3: Bay Area

We have a HAPPY Hannah on our hands.  She has been looking forward to San Francisco for many months and she was not disappointed!

Campsite: Olema Campground
Website: http://www.olemacampground.net/
Quick review: Great experience and loved the rural location north of the city. People were fabulous.

Trip Mileage: 767.3
Soul Status: HIGH. Seeing the smile on Hannah’s face after we finally got her to the Golden Gate Bridge and Zoe to the ocean is the purpose of this sabbatical.
Experience the new and different. Girls, meet San Francisco.

Highlights included:

As always, the best part is seeing the people we love! Thanks Colleen, Janie and Ernie for making time for us!

San Francisco – Say no more! GREAT city!
Golden Gate Bridge – Hannah’s #1 thing to see while we were there. To ride across it with the top off the jeep was amazing.
Lombard Street – The legendary world’s crookedest street. Have to drive it once.
Alcatraz – To be a fly on the wall. I love the stories of this place, it never gets old.
Pier 39 – Crowds, touristy shops and many food options and of course those adorable sea lions.
Rocket Boat – Super fast boats (hence the name) that take you around the SF bay and under the bridge while throwing in a quick 180 degree turn or ten.
Pt. Reyes – Our favorite little town of the trip so far! Great outdoor energy and close to many vineyards and the Station Cafe has an awesome breakfast. (This is the only time I have seriously considered owning a Bed & Breakfast)
Stinson Beach – Date night! Super cool small beach town on the way back to Olema and a fabulous dinner at the Sand Dollar.
Vals – Our third night we stayed with Colleen, Brian’s sister and parked The Wave out on the street with no issues. Whew! Anyway, Colleen lives by Vals, a greasy food joint that has the best onion rings and shakes this side of the Mississippi!

Onto the Redwood Forest…
