“Goonies never say die”.  I LOVE this area.  I like being so close to both the water and the mountains!  The energy out here is contagious!

Quick review: Fabulous, everything about it! Mosquitos were bad, but if you pull up your big-girl pants and apply mosquito spray, you will survive.
Within a couple beautiful paved trail miles, we had the beach (happy Tina) and multiple historical sites (happy Brian).

Mileage: 1518.4
Soul Status: HIGH. Nothing better than a place full of energy that gets your creativity going! However, the Wave’s 7+ hour winding, twisting,

up and down drive up the 101 wore Brian out by the time we got there but he recovered pretty quickly and really loved the area as well.

Highlights Include:

Goonies House – Though closed off, we simply acted as if we belonged. Goonies never say die! (Thank you for the tip Adara!)

The Column – 164 stairs to the top, worth it! The Column offered amazing views of the landscape including Lewis & Clark historical locations,

Columbia River and Washington State. It is tradition here to toss wood airplanes off the top and see how far they fly.

Fort Stevens Campground Area: This was a nice, clean state park with trails leading directly to the ocean and the fort’s various historical sites.

We took a short bike ride to the beach and got to see the remains of a 100+ year old shipwreck. Both Brian and I went on runs to and around

one of the fort’s – makes for an interesting run!

World War II batteries, historical sites are not our usual exercise destinations and definitely added a little pep to the step.

Haystack Rock: This was one place on the top of my list and it didn’t disappoint, however; for different reasons than just being gorgeous!

Brian taught all three of us how to catch sand crabs. This was new to us and SO much fun! I have attached video’s of the girls catching their

first sand crabs.

Seaside: Great beach and vibe!

Tillamook: Yes, please. Cheese and ice cream did not disappoint. I was disappointed we didn’t get the tour because they are remodeling the

visitor’s area and it will not be completed until next year.
